The second day in Exeter, woke up at half past nine

Not sure whether it was the fatigue from yesterday or from the super comfortable 'futon' that Joe prepared me,

I overslept.

Today, Margaret was going to drive us around from the afternoon, so spent the morning relaxing at the house.

Went looking around the town though, and bought a begonia from the charity shop, and named him 'Mr Plant'.

There's a lot of animals in Joe's house;

two dogs, one cat, approximately 10 ducks, 1 chicken and some gold fish !

The dogs were very very clever as Gwen, Joe's sister, has been training them very well.

In the afternoon Laurel, Joe's friend, has joined and under Margaret's driving, took off for bit of ride!

The whether was specutacular!

The first place we planned to visit was Okehamton Castle - a ruin almost a thousand years old.

On our way, bought some pasty at a little town for lunch.

Traffic was good - took us only half an hour to arrive at this ruin.

Having paid 2.20 to get in and with the portable recorder in our hands, we walked around the ruin.

Though I gave up with this recorder in 5 minutes,

I managed to learn that this castle was used as a hunting lodge by a lord who used to goven this area.

Leaving the ruin, Margaret drove us through the country side to see the country side!

Only about 10 minutes it was, parked our car at a place of nowhere.

The place was surrounded by field after field

I lost my words

from this art the pale blue sky, the magnificient clouds and the light shining in between them have created.

It was no work of man.

On our way back, stopped by at Margaret's favorite village

There seemed to be no more than 100 houses.

Small peaceful village.

Someday, I want to live in a place like this - I dreamed

Probably it was around six, when we got back at Joe's house.

As soon as we arrived, they made me a tea and a 'cream-tea'.

I was at first confused by the name 'cream-tea' as I thought it was literally tea,

but to my surprise, it was the name of a cake - clotted cream and jam on top of a scone.

It is called 'tea' because you eat with a tea

English people confuse me sometimes, but confusing or not, it was delicous!

Hazel, Joe's youngest bashful sister has showed up for the first time since I arrived.

Before the supper, we had a merry time playing boardgames and smacking each other with swords - how merry it was.

After that, Laurel drove me and Joe to this place ...

At first I thought it was a desolated prison or maybe a school,

but to my great astonishement, it was a ruin of the RAF military base from the WWU!!

Joe and Laurel brought me here to scare me off,

sure did they succeed, though I tried my best to keep myself together.

Flashlight got broke inside as we were walking through the dark collidor

I was glad Joe has given up going further, hahaha.. haha!

There's so many places to explore in Exeter, I was a bit jealous.

When we got back, Margaret has cooked us a lasagna and salad, they were all delicious indeed!

I felt today lasted for like a week, we've done a lot !

And I'm so thankful for the warm care from Joe's family.

Thank you and goodnight!
