友達を介して噂のG-mailのアカウントを取得した。
まだ、一般には公開されてないベータ版ではあるが、それでも１GBのスペースを無料で使える。
Googleと言えば、最近地味ながらも色々なことを始めている。
その内の一つが、翻訳サービスだ。
今Googleで検索すると、「このページを訳す beta」と書かれた、リンクがある。
クリックしてみると、英語で書かれたページをなんと自動的に日本語に直してくれるのだ。
おおと感心したが、よく読んでみると、とんでもない文章になっているではないか。
アメリカのセンクス・ギビングに関する記事で、「あまり羽目をはずさないようにと」書かれた内容が．．．
「あなたが実際に来週それを後悔するので注意深く運転し,,
そして食べないあまりを飲み , そして運転し, 。それは今のためのそれである」
とかいう意味の分からない文章に訳されていた。
しかし、これがなかなかおもしろい。
「politics」とか「Christmas」とか適当な言葉で検索して
グーグルに訳させて見ると、かなりセンスのある文章にしてくれる。

It's still a beta version not being publicised, but got it through a friend's connection.
Google is in boom these days with all the fuss about IPO, g-mail, google news and recently I've found a very interesting tool.
When you search using google, there'll be a link saying "translate this page beta"
When you click this link, it automatically translate the pages written in English to Japanese.
I was impressed at first, but when I had a closer look at the result,
I had to say this thing is not a tranlator, but... a commedian.
Oh how they translated an article about the American Thanks Giving day,
you wouldnt believe...
