今日から、車の教習の始まり始まり。
イギリスは日本のように、教習所というものに通う必要はなく
家の近くにいる、認定を受けたインストラクターに電話をして毎回個人レッスンをアポする。
基本的には、２２歳以上で、免許取得後３年以上経った人が隣に座って監督していれば
仮免許の取得後すぐ路上を運転できる。
この仮免許も、単にパスポートと書類を送るだけですぐ取得できるので便利だ。
午後１２時、大学前でトムさんと待ち合わせる。
最後にハンドルを握ったのは、小学生の時鹿児島でゴーカートを運転して以来だ。
大学から、５分ほど離れた、静かな道で早速運転開始。
今日のレッスンは「前進」。
一体何回エンストしたことか．．．
「うまい、うまい、うまい、おしいー」とか言ってトムさん必死にフォロー。
今日は二時間で終了。次回は土曜日だ。夏休みまでに取れるかなあ。
Wednesday
I had a first driving lesson today.
Not like in Japan where you have to go to the so-called 'driving school',
getting a driving licence is rather simple in UK.
You just call up a qualified instructor living near your house and book an appointment everytime.
It was easy to get the provisional licence, which allows you to drive on the road, all I needed was
a passport and to fill out a form.
Met Tom infront of the Uni, it was easy to spot him since his car had a big L sign.
Today I learnt how to move forward.
I think it was faster to walk...
I hope I can pass the exams before summer.
