今日から大学が始まる。授業はなかった。
今週の水曜日に、「インターナショナル・ウェンズデー」というイベントがある。
いろいろな国の人たちが、自国の紹介を、食べ物を売ったり、パネルを使って紹介するイベントだ。
今回、グレッグに誘われて、日本も参加することにした。
今日は、それの打ち合わせ。
やはり、みんなで集まると自分では思いもつかなかったアイデアが出る。これがシナジー効果か。
Yがイギリスではまだ発売されていない、プレイステーション・ポータブルってやつを持ってきていた。
「いやー、これ是非みせましょうよ。こう日本のハイテクな所を強調しなくちゃー」とY。
「おおお、いいねーそれー」
「あ、僕新しい、ちっちゃいPS２持ってますよ」 と Masa。
「じゃあテレビ持ってきて、サッカーか何かのゲームできるようにしよーぜ」 とT。
「おおおお、いいねー」 とか言って相槌だけ打つ僕。
「あ、私日本のファッション雑誌とか持ってますよ」 とHaruka。
「あ、僕も車の雑誌ならありますよ」 とMasa。
「おいおいおい、いいんじゃないのー」 と僕。
アイデアが出る出る。
結果として、
プレステや日本の携帯を見せる、「テクノロジー・コーナー」。
日本のベーゴマや、折り紙を披露する「文化＆エンターテイメント・コーナー」。
そして、パネルをつかって基本的な日本の情報を提供する、「パネル・コーナー」
の３本柱でいくことにした。
食べ物は時間がなかったので却下。日本酒もスパーで調達できたら、無料で試飲できるようにすることにした。
Yがかなり乗り気になってくれたので、頼もしいよ。
Monday
Uni started from today, but I had no class.
There's an event called the "International Wednesday" this week.
It's an event where people introduce their home countries using panels and selling food and etc.
We the Japanese decided to participate this time and today I arranged a meeting to discuss what we should do.
I thought about it before Easter but couldn't really think of any good ideas,
but today so many ideas came out - perhaps this is what you called the 'synergy effect'.
Y was bringing his 'Playstation Portable' which is not yet sold in UK.
'Let's demonstrate this in the event, to show the advanced technology of Japan' said Y.
'Hey, that's a good idea!' - me
'If that's the case, I have a new small Playstation 2' said Masa.
'Then we can bring a TV and let everybody play some football game or something' said T.
'Yeah, great idea' - me, nodding all the time.
'I have some Japanese fashion magazines' said Haruka.
'Then I have some Japanese car magazine' said Masa
'yeah, this is great, you guys are great'
As a result of this highly productive meeting, we decided to demonstrate three things, namely:
Japanese Technology - using Playstation Portable, New Playstaion 2 and by showing Japanese mobile phones.
Art & Entertainment - using demonstration of origami and other Japanese traditoinal toys such as spinning tops.
Basic Japanese Information - using the panel
We were going to sell some food, but realised there's no time.
But instead, we decided to give out some Japanese 'sake' for free.
It's becoming quite exciting, especially Y, he sure loves his home country.
