グレッグが遊びに来た。
昼飯にうどんを作ってあげ、午後から近くのレジャー・パークに映画を観に行く。
一本観たらもう一本無料で観れるキャンペーンをやっていたので、
今日は立て続けに２本も映画をみた。
一本目はチャールズ・ディケンズ原作の「オリバー・ツイスト」
実は二人とも、本のほうを途中でギブアップしていたので、
「本を読まなくていい素晴らしい言い訳ができてよかった」と喜び合った。
正直、ディケンズの暗い作風は読んでいて参る。
二本目は、カリフォルニア育ちのメキシコ人が、イギリスのプロサッカープレーヤーになる過程を描いた「ゴール」という映画。
筋書きは驚くほどありきたりだったけど、
イギリスのサッカー文化や、イギリスの若者のライフスタイルがとても正確に紹介されていたと思う。
晩飯をハウス・メイトと一緒に食べ、８時ごろ帰っていった。
バス停でした握手が、再び昨日のように思える日がやってくるのが分かっているから
別れるのもちっとも寂しくなかった。。
Grigory came to visit from Portsmouth.
I cooked some 'udon' for lunch and in the afternoon, went to the nearby leisure park to watch some films.
As they were doing 'watch two films for the price of one' offer, we watched two films in a row.
First one was 'Oliver Twist'.
We had a perfect reason to watch this film; we both gave up reading the book in the middle and
it was 'such a perfect excuse not to finish off the book'.
To be honest, Charles Dickens' gloomy writing stlye wears you off.
Anyway, the second one was a film called 'Goal';
it's a story about a young California-grown mexican trying to become a professional football player in UK.
The story line was a typcial success story kind,
but I thought it has very accurately depicted the UK football culture and the British life styles.
Had dinner with my housemates and he left around 8.
It wasn't sad at all saying goodbye to him at the bus stop,
as I know we'll be meeting again very soon,
feeling as if today happend only yesterday.
