ふー。一週間とは早いものだ。もう水曜日、フォトグラフィーのクラスの日。
まだ、このクラスの自由な教授スタイルに慣れない。
３時間のうち２時間は自由時間で、本を読んだり、フィルムを現像したり、インターネットでリサーチをしたり、先生と話したりと好き勝手にできる。
今日は是非フィルムの現像の仕方を習いたかったので、一つ上のレベルのクラスのニックが現像しているところを観察してみた。
ニックがやっているところを見た限り、意外とシンプルな印象をうけた。
でも、同じクラスのマイケルが挑戦したところ、温度調節や、暗室内でのフィルムの取り出しなど、結構梃子摺っていた。
マイケルのネガをみていると、なんと何も写っていないではないか！
きっと光がどこかで入ってしまったんだろうと、議論していると、先生のロンが
「これは逆に、まったく露出されていないね」と見事に原因を究明してくれた。
どうもマイケル、フィルムの入れ方を間違えたらしい．．．カモーン！
今日は、フォトショップの使い方も習った。
隣に座ったジョンは、今まで一度もパソコンに触れたことのない、大初心者。
マウスだとか、左クリックだとか、基礎の基礎から教えてあげた。
Phew, a week goes by so quick, it's already Wednesday, the day of the photography class.
I'm still finding it a bit difficult to get used to the unstructured teaching style of this course.
Two out of three hours of this class is free time;
you can develop your films, read books, research on the internet, take photos or just chat with teachers and friends.
I decided to learn how to develop the film today, from Nick, a student in A2 level photography.
By looking at Nick's nimble movements, it looked quite easy.
But perhaps it's more difficult than it seems, as when Michael, a friend in the same class, develop his films,
he totally botched it, there was nothing appearing in the negatives.
We first thought the films got over exposed, however upon investigation by the teacher Ron,
it was in fact not exposed at all! He put the film wrong in the first place! I was like, come on!
I also learnt how to use the Photoshop.
John, who has never touched the computer in his life, was experiencing extreme difficulty.
I had to teach him the concept of mouse, 'left click', 'drag' and so on and so forth.
All in all, it was great.
