今週の火曜日、ヴィンセントは旧正月を祝いに、休暇をとって２週間マレーシアに帰った。
週末でジェラミーもバースに帰ったので、今日明日はチェンと二人だけだ。
夜、晩飯を作っていたときの会話。
「今日はカレーを作るんだ」と僕。
「あら、私も日本のカレーよ」と、どこで手に入れたのか、日本のレトルト・カレーを手に掲げるチェン。
二人で、日本のカレーを別々に作るのも馬鹿馬鹿しいので、一つの鍋をつかって、ぐつぐつと二人分用意した。
久しぶりのカレーはなかなかうまかった。
「ヴィンセントが帰っちゃって寂しいでしょ？」と聞くと。
「たまに、会わないことも大切だと思うの」だってさ。
さあ、週末だ。
Vincent has taken a long holiday and gone back to Malaysia for two weeks to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Jeremy has also gone back to Bath for the weekend.
So it's only me and Chen in this house tonight and tomorrow.
Whilst we were cooking...
'I'm going to cook curry tonight', said I.
'Oh me to, I have this Japanese curry', Chen, taking out the Japanese ready-made curry meal.
As both of us were going to have the same menu, I thought it would be stupid cooking separately.
I haven't eaten curry for ages, it was very good.
