会社のHashimotoさんと彼の同僚Chughuaと一緒にストーンヘンジまでいってきた。
青空がとても綺麗な一日で、お出かけ日和だった。
ストーンヘンジはベージングストークから車で一時間ほど。
自分で自分の写真をとるHashimotoさん。わ、若い。
Went to the Stone Henge with Mr Hashimoto and his work colleague Chunghua.
It was beautiful day, a perfect weather for going out.
Stone Henge was only an hour drive from Basingstoke.
Mr Hashimoto taking photos by himself (he is young...).
ここには、約２年程前、日本から遊びにきた兄と友達２人で来た。
石自体はそこまで大きくないけれど、
やはり、直立した石の上に水平に置かれている石をどうやって持ち上げたのか考えさせられる。
I came to this place about two years ago with my brother and friends.
The rocks may not be as big as you expect,
but I was amazed by how they placed the big horizontal rocks on top of the vertical ones.
According to the audio guide, the Stone Henge was built around 5000 to 4000 years ago.
ストーンヘンジから車で３０分程離れた所にある、ソールズベリーで昼飯を食べた。
昼食後、ソールズベリー大聖堂を見学。
高く聳え立った尖塔がとても綺麗な大聖堂だ。
We then had lunch in Salisbury (30 minutes drive from Stone Henge).
After lunch, we visited the Salisbury Cathedral, which is famous for its very tall spire.

what was this I wonder...
中は以外とシンプルで広々としていた（ごちゃごちゃ詰まったウェスト・ミンスター寺院とは違います）
ステンドグラスはどれも新しくはめられたものばかり。でも中には古そうなものも。
The interior of this catherdral was quite simple and spacious (not like the stuffy Westminster Abbey)
Most of the stained glasses looked new, apart from few (like this one shown below)
