昨夜、屋根裏部屋で不気味な音がした。
トコトコと床の上を歩く音。
トコトコと歩く生き物なんて別に珍しくないだろうと自分を説得し、
気にしないで、ドアをしっかり閉めて寝ることに。
朝、洗面所で歯を磨いていると、となりの屋根裏部屋で再びトコトコと音がする。
猫だといいなとか思いながら、そっと一歩ずつ足を踏み入れる。
すると、小さな黒い物体が部屋をよこぎった！
かなりびびりながら、よくみてみると、なんと小さな鳥だった。
一体どこから入ってきたのだろうと思いながら、窓を開けてやると、ささっと飛び立っていった。
「ばかやろう、なんで昨晩窓を開けてくれなかったんだよ！」といわれたような気がした。
ごめんなさいね。でも次回はちゃんとノックしろよ！あほ！
Last night I heard a noise in the attic.
A sound too soft for a cat, but too big for a cockroach (there's no
roaches in UK anyway).
I thought I should investigate but I somehow managed to persuade myself
that after all, it's not very unusual to hear such noise in the attic.
I woke up and was brushing my teeth when I heard the noise again...
So it wasn't a dream.
Hoping to be a cat or something, I decided to investigate, entering the
room slowly, a step at a time.
Then boom!
A black animal, smaller than a cat, bigger than a cockroach scuttled
around the attic.
I'm telling you, I was panicking more than this small bird, which I
still cannot understand how and where it got in from.
I opened the window and the little bird flew away into the sky.
I thought I heard him saying
'you stupid, you could have opened the window last night!'
Sorry about that little bird, but you know what, next time, at least
knock!
