僕の大学時代最後の授業だった。
ロバート・ゴダート教授が、いつものように、傘をぷらぷら振り回しながらプレゼンする。
途中の休憩時間には、最後の授業の「記念として」
ジャッファ・ケークスを配ってくれた。
ジャッファ・ケークスで最後の授業の記念になるのかどうかは分からないけど、うれしいことに違いはない。
隣に座っていたジューディスが、ジャッファ・ケークスは、「厳密にいうと」
ケーキーではなくてクッキーだと教えてくれた。(あれ、やはりケーキなんだっけかな？忘れてしまった）。
ケーキとクッキーの税の取り扱いが違うらしい。僕は美味ければどうでもいいような気がするが．．．
イギリス人は、紅茶を作るときミルクを最初にいれるか紅茶を最初に入れるかとか、
たまにどうでもいいようなことで議論する。
いづれにしろ、無事すべての授業が終わってよかった。
夜、ほろ酔いのYusukeから電話があった。
どうやら、インターンの課題が無事終わり、
セインズベリーで買ったという日本のビールを飲みながら、
忙しかった一週間を振り返って、一人で余韻にひたっているらしかった。
久しぶりに話せてよかったよ。
Today's company law lecture was my very last lecture in university.
Robert Goddard's lecture was good as usual.
I really liked the way how he used an umbrella to point things in the presentation.
During the break, he gave us Jaffa Cakes to "mark this" commemorating day.
I'm not sure whether you can mark a day with Jaffa Cakes, but still, it was very nice of him.
During the break, Judith, who was sitting next to me, told me that
strictly speaking, Jaffa Cakes are not cakes, but cookies,
(or was it the other way around? Jaffa Cakes are in fact cakes? )
Sometimes, British people like to debate about these random topics,
like whether to pour milk first or tea first, to me, they are the same...
Anyway, I'm glad that all my lectures are finished, it's sad in a way.
A slightly tipsy Yusuke gave me a call in the evening.
He said he finished his placement essay (which was due today).
Nice to talk to you anyway.
