午後1時から、不動産仲介業者に行く。
中野坂上にある部屋の契約を無事済ますことができた。
土曜日以降に入居できるらしい。
とりあえずこれで、働き始める前にやるべきことは大体終わった。
残るは引っ越しと基本的な家電製品を揃えれば、とりあえず暮らし始められる。
しかし、部屋を借りるのは予想以上にお金がかかった。
敷金と礼金が高いのは痛いなあ。

夕方5時からMasaと会う約束をしていたので、荻窪から丸ノ内線に乗り、東京駅へ向かう。
契約が予想以上に早く終わってしまい、Masaとの待ち合わせ時間の5時まで大分時間があったので、皇居の周りをぶらぶらと散策した。
東京駅の近くには、新しい高層ビルがたくさん建っていて、驚いた。

At 1 pm, I went to the estate agency and signed a contract for my new flat in Nakano Sakaue.
I can move in from this Saturday.
Having found my new flat, I've done most of the administrative tasks that I needed to do before my work starts in September.
I still need to buy the basic electronic appliances (such as a fridge, cooker, etc), but that shouldn't be too difficult.
It cost me a fortune to get this room, as in Japan, you need to pay both the deposit as well as a gift money (called Reikin) to the owner of the flat.
This Reikin was equivalent to two month of my rent, and the deposit was worth a month of my rent.

After signing my contract, I got on the Marunouchi-line from Ogikubo to Tokyo station, to meet Masa.
I had plenty of time before the meeting time with Masa, which was at 5pm, so I strolled around the emperor's palace.
I was surprised to see so many new high scrapers near Tokyo station.
I guesss it's true that the Japanese economy is recovering.
皇居の周りは、数人の外国人観光客を除けば、いたって静かだった。
日光が肌が焦げるように強く照っていたので、和田倉噴水公園にある休憩所で1時間程休憩した。
Apart from few foreign tourists, there was hardly any people in the emperor's outer garden.
The sun was scorchingly hot, so I retreated into a cafe in Wada fountain park, near the palace.
さて、問題のMasaであるが、待ち合わせ時間になっても来ない。
新丸ノ内ビルの前で待ち合わせようとしたが、なかなか発見できなかった（されなかった。。。）
もの凄くでかいビルなんだけどなあ。
待つこと、1時間半、Masaが出現した。約３ヶ月振りの再開だ。
どうやら、車でどこかで3時間も迷ってしまったらしい。
全く、日本の交通機関は世界でナンバー１なのだから、電車で来れば良かったものを．．．
相変わらず彼は車好きなのだと思わされた。
I waited for Masa, but he didn't show up long after 5pm.
I told him to meet in front of Shin-Marunouchi Building, but he struggled to find this massive compound.
After one and half hour of waiting, he turned up, greeting to me apologetically for being late.
He decided, not intelligiably, to drive from his home in Funabashi and got lost along the way.
He should have come by the train, after all, Japanese public transportation system is No.1 in the world.
Hid decision to use the car reminded me how much he loved the cars....
東京駅の地下街にある、和幸というトンカツ屋で食べた。
彼が日本に帰ってきてから何をやっていたのかと、又今後の予定を聞きだした。
どうやら、本当にイギリスに戻る気らしい。
イギリス嫌いの彼ゆえ意外な選択であるが、やはり仕事である以上、仕方がないといった感じだった。
中古自動車を取り扱っている会社で働くと言う。
もし僕が将来（遠い将来になりそうだが）、中古車を買うことになったら、是非彼に安くていいのを探してくれるよう頼んでみよう。
それだから、今日からマサに新しいあだ名をつけよう。
「中古車のマサ」だ！
将来そんな会社を建てるといいよ。
We ate tonkatsu for dinnner at Wakou in the underground of Tokyo station.
I asked him what he's been doing since he got back in June and his plans for the future.
It looks like he's going back to the UK.
That sounds very ironical to me, as I know that he doesn't like UK that much, but I guess work is work.
He told me that he is due to be working for a company that handles used-cars.
So, if I need a car in the future (a very far future that is), I shall ask him for an advise.
So I shall give him a new nickname,
"Used-car Masa"
You should start a new company under that name.
