JPN

As yesterday, I ate my breakfast with a geologist from Amsterdam.

When I told him that I'm off to Zermatt today, he gave me a good lecture on how Matterhon became its present form.

He drew diagrams for me, telling me that it was to do with the four ice ages...

But looking at his drawings now, it is somewhat difficult to understand.

The train left Avenches at 8:48.

At Brig, I got on a special mountain train to Zermatt.

The rain became intense by the time the train arrived in Zermatt.

I got soaked, literally from head to toe, on my way to the youth hostel as I did not have an umbrella.

I took a shower and rested for a while.

When the rain stopped in the evening, I went out to town for a stroll.

The sky was opening up and I was able to see the summit of Matterhon.

I didn't expect it to be so close.

The town itself had no appeal, its one of the most touristy town I've ever been.

I plan to hike tomorrow. Hope the weather is good.
