たまねぎを切っていたら、涙が出てきた。
どうして玉ねぎを切ると涙がでてくるのだろう、
と疑問に思ったので、グーグルで検索してみると、
玉ねぎに含まれる酸化アリルとかいう物質が目を刺激するからと書かれていた。
しかしそんなことを知っていたからと言って、涙が止まるわけでもない。
玉ねぎに関する僕の思い出は、
サブウェイでバイトをしていた時に涙を流しながら、ひたすら玉ねぎを切った苦い経験だ。
僕の24年間の人生で、あれほど玉ねぎに苦しめられたことはない。
僕は組織だった犯罪の被害者になったわけだ。
そんなことを思いながら、玉ねぎで涙しない方法を、再びグーグルで検索してみると、
どうやら冷蔵庫で冷やせばよいらしい。
カレーを作る前に調べておけば良かったよ。

I wondered why onions make you cry and search it on google.
Well, according to google (or the website therefrom), onions include a
chemical called "syn-propanethial S-Oxide"
which stimulates your eyes' lachrymal glands...
Yeah, whatever, like knowing that would stop you from crying.
Speaking of my memory relating to onions,
I can recall the time when I was working for Subway, cutting the onions
non-stop in tears.
I've lived 24 years, but that was the only time when the onions
tormented me so much.
Indeed, I have been victimised to an organised crime.
Thinking about such sad memories, once again I searched on google how
to stop "onion tears".
It looks like that all you need to do is to cool it for a while in a
fridge.
Damn, I should have googled before I cooked curry.
