えらいことになってしまった。
今日、SACSという、会社のイヴェントをオーガナイズするグループのミーティングがあった。
SACSには、誘われて入会することになったのだが、
12月に予定されている会社の一大イヴェントのクリスマス・パーティーの委員会のリーダーになってしまったのだ。
「umakoshi-san、どうですか？」って言うから、
いや、どうにもこうにも、クリスマス・パーティは是非手伝わせていただきますが、まだ一度も参加したことがないので、今回はリーダーはちょっと無理
と、言ったつもりだったのだが、どうやら新入社員がやる慣行になっているらしく、
リーダーに選ばれてしまった。
あららー。
僕まだ、試用期間中なんだけどなあ。
150人ぐらいが参加するこのイヴェント、うまくまとめられるか不安だなあ。
会社のアメリカ人は、DJを呼びたいとかいうし、DJなんか知らないっつーの！
まあ、これもよいトレーニングの一つだと思って頑張るしかない。
来週から、忙しくなるなあ。
This is not looking good, not good at all.
Well, it happened in today's SACS meeting.
SACS is a company's committee that organises various company events, such as the bowling night and other charity events.
Basically, the company does a Christmas party every year, and I was, for some reason, voted as the leader of the Christmas Party committee.
"Would you like to do it Umakoshi-san?", S-san asked me abruptly.
I replied quite courteously that I would love to help out, but as I've never attended the Christmas party, it would be very difficult for me to lead the event.
I thought I was making myself very clear, but, somehow, when I realised, I was appointed as the leader...
Oh...
It looks like it's a tradition that the new joiner becomes the leader every year.
Just for your information, I am still on the probation period...
I'm quite worried whether I can organise this event which brings about 150 people, but I guess I can take it as a good opportunity to learn.
Mr T wants to bring a D.J.
Please, honestly, I don't know anything about D.J.
Boy, it's going to be busy from next week.
夜、Shifumiさんに新宿で会う。
11月の中旬にある、ボストン・キャリア・フォーラムに彼女は行く予定らしく、
「色々とアドバイスを聞かせて」というから、蕎麦を食べながら、
「絶対に、美術館にはいくべきだよ、あと時間があったらニューヨークにも」
と、非常に有益なアドバイスをあげた。
I met Shifumi in Shinjuku after work.
She's planning to go to the Boston Career Forum in mid-November and she wanted some advise from me.
"Well, you should definately visit the Fine Art Museum, and if you have time, go to New York".
I gave her such a good advise. You welcome.
