今年もこの日が来てしまった。
年賀状の季節だ。
今年も争奪な戦いが繰り広げられることだろう。
そう、誰が一番たくさんの年賀状をもらえるかの戦いだ。
といっても、父と母、また小学生の教員である兄には、まともに戦ったら勝てる見込みはないのだが、かれらはヘビー級なので、
フライ級の僕とゾムには関係ない。
ゾムと僕は毎年かなりの接戦だ。
ゾムは、「アイシティー」、「メガネスーパー」、「美容院」などから、年賀状が届くので、かなりのアドバンテージになる。
僕に来る年賀状は、高校の友達、教会の人、祖父母と３分類されるが、
教会の人は大抵家族全員宛に来ているので、勝負の対象にはならない。
今のところ、僕が3対１で勝っている。
このまま逃げ切れるか、みものだな。
午後1時半から、教会に行き、元旦礼拝に出席する。
So this time of the year has come again.
The time when a fierce battle takes place in our house.
Not sure whether you know, but in Japan, it is a custom to send out New Year greeting cards,
just like it is a tradition in the West to send out Christmas cards.
Anyway, the battle is about who gets the most cards.
But I must qualify the word "who", as it must be narrowly defined.
That is because, there is no chance of winning against my parents and my brother (who is a school teacher and gets handful of cards from the kids),
that's right, they're in a heavy weight category and thus nothing to do with me and Zome, who are in the Fly weight.
The battle between Zome and I always becomes a close competition.
Zome gets cards from places like "Eye City (a contact lense shop)”, "Megane Super (an eyewear store)" and a beatuy salon.
I, on the other hand, get cards from friends from highschool, church or from grandparents.
But people from church ususually address to the whole family, so it's not a valid count.
So far, I'm winning, 3-1.
From 1:30, we went to church for the first service of the year.
夕方、祖父母の家に行き、家族で団欒の時を持つ。
豪勢な食事をいただきました。
やはり日本食はうまーいです。
今年もよろしくお願いしまーす！
And in the evening, we went to the grandparents and had some gorgeous Japanese dinner.
