来週の水曜日は父の誕生日なので実家に帰って来た。
そう、本日のビストロ・マキは実家で開店だ。
誕生日と言えば、やはり生姜焼きということで、
以前教会で作った生姜焼きのリベンジ戦をした。
極秘のタレである、リンゴジュース、醤油とお酒を1:1:1の比率で混ぜ合わせ焼く。
味噌汁は、昆布とかつおぶしでダシをとった。
「味噌汁の味見するんだ？」と母が驚いていたことに、
若干の困惑を覚えたが、
まあ、母は文字通り「おふくろの味」に到達しているので、
「そりゃ、味見ぐらいするでしょ！」とは敢えて突っ込まなかった。
さて、問題の生姜焼きであるが、
一言で言えば、分量を若干間違えた。
と言うのは、冗談で、
料理のプロに間違いなどあり得ない訳で、
生姜焼きのウェディングケーキをイメージした訳だ。
今日は、母は結婚式に参加したらしく、
「お腹一杯で」、父と弟の三人でこの量を平らげる必要があったが、
弟が予想以上にお腹が空いていたらしく、
見事綺麗さっぱり消費することが出来た。
その後、ケーキを食べ、
まるで、クリスマス・キャロルの最後のシーンのような、
一家団欒（だんらん）の暖かな時間を過ごしたとさ、めでたしめでたし。
As next Wednesday is my dad's birthday,
I came home to cook some dinner for my family.
That's right, this week's Bistro Maki opened at home.
Well, as you know, the typical birthday dinner is fried pork (cough),
and last time I cooked it at church, it didn't really come out nice,
so today was my revenge dinner, ha!
I also cooked miso soup, from the soup stock, which is the proper way to make it.
When I was checking the taste of miso soup,
my mom goes "wow, you're actually checking the taste?".
I wasn't sure what kind of connotation it had,
and I wanted to retort,
but I didn't because I knew that my mom is already a master when it comes to miso soup.
Anyway, I cooked too much.
But that's not a mistake,
I wanted to make a fried pork wedding cake.
See how beautiful it is?
Oh, my mom was already full today from attending a real wedding ceremony,
so we had to eat them all with only three of us.
Thanks to my brother who was hungry,
we managed to consume it all.
And we had birthday cake afterwards.
The atmosphere, was warm, like the last scene in the Christmas Carol,
and they lived happily ever after, yeah yeah.
