これがかの有吊な天安門広場。
タクシーを降りたら、
アジア大陸の厳しい冷風で耳が凍りついた。
広場の西には、全国人民代表大会が開かれる人民大会堂が建ち、
北には、世界３大博物館の一つである故宮がある。
今日の天気は晴れだが、
風があって、ものすごく寒かった。
氷点下であったこと間違いなしだ。
When we got off from the taxi at the Tiananmen Square,
the cold continental breeze made our ears numb.
At the west of the Square,
there is the Great Hall of the People
where the National People's Congress takes place every year.
And at the north, there sits the Tiananmen (literally, Gate of Heavenly Peace)
and the National Palace Museum, one of the largest Museums in the world.
It was a sunny day,
but the wind made it deadly cold.
天安門を通って故宮へ入る。
入場料は一人４０元なり（約５６０円）。
We went through the Gate to the Museum.
The entrance fee was 40 yuan.
故宮は１４０６年に建設が開始され、
１４２１年に完成。
故宮は「外朝《と「内廷《の二つの部分に分かれており、
「内廷《が皇帝一家のプライベートスペースだったらしい。
故宮の総面積は７２万平方メートルで、
部屋数はなんと９千もあるそうだ。
そして９３万４千点もの文化財が収蔵されているという。
１９８７年には世界遺産にも登録されている。
下の写真が映画「ラストエンペラー《の即位シーンで有吊な「太和殿《。
今日はとにかく物凄い人で、
大和殿の中の玉座はみれなかった。
The construction of the National Palace Museum began in 1406 and
was completed on 1421.
It is divided into two sections; the outer and inner courts.
The inner court was used to be the private area of the imperial family.
The Museum is said to have approximately 9,000 rooms
and stores more than 930,000 works.
It is also a world heritage since 1987.
The photo below is the Hall of Supreme Harmony,
which is famous in the scene from the film "the Last Emperor".
It is the ceremonial centre of imperial power, and the largest surviving wooden structure in China.
There was so many people today that we couldn't see the coronation throne.
故宮は博物館といえど、
実際、展示品を見る人はほとんどいない。
展示品は建物の横側にある部屋に無数展示されているのだが、
部屋数がものすごい多いことと、
勉強上足ということもあって、
我々も今日はほとんどみなかった。
また、世界の大博物館と比較して、
故宮の博物館としての設備の充実度はとてもプリミティブだ。
中にはゆっくりと休める場所や、
食事ができる所もない。
でもトイレは驚くほど綺麗だったので安心した。
Although this place is a museum,
not many people go into the exhibition rooms,
perhaps because it is not very well advertised
and perhaps because there's just too many rooms.
We didn't go through looking at the exhibits either,
as we were awfully unprepared.
There is not much relaxation space in this Museum,
but they had good toilets, which is always important.
これが故宮の外壁。
向こう端が見えないほどでかい。
This is the outer wall of the Museum.
It's so big that you can't seee the other side.
外堀の池は凍っていた。
The pond was freezing.
故宮の北にある景山公園に上った。
ここから、故宮と北京の街が見下ろせる。
眺望は最高だった。
We walked up the Keizan Park,
which is at the north of the Museum.
The view was amazing from here.
これが北京のバス。路面電車のようだ。
This is the bus. It looks like a tram.
故宮からタクシーで「西単（シーダン）《という
若者のエリアに行く。
日本でいう渋谷のような場所だ。
そこの大型ショッピングモールで、
弟はDVDを１５本も購入した。
しっかりとした店なので建前上は正規版なのだろうが、
値段が１５元（約２００円）ということもあり、
何かあるに違いない…
We took the taxi from the Museum to Shidan,
a popular place for the young people.
We went into this large shopping mall
and my brother bought 15 DVDs.
無印良品もユニクロもあり、
僕はユニクロで日本では売り切れとなっていた、
ヒートテックのタイツを購入した。
There was Uniqulo (a Japanese clothing shop),
I bought a heattech trousers here.
夕方には、北京の西のほうにあるイトーヨーカドーに行く。
地図も何もなかったので、
駅からたどり着くまで少し迷った。
この辺りは新興住宅街らしく、
大きなマンションがいくつも建っているが、
マンションの周辺が荒廃しているので、
とても異様な感じがした。
In the evening,
we went to Itoyokado (a Japanese supermarket).
Along the way to the supermarket,
we walked through this new residential area.
The buildings were all new,
but since the surrounding area is dilapidated,
it looked all uncanny.
イトーヨーカドーではかなり収穫があった。
ポッキーやらおかきやら、日本のお菓子をたくさん買った。
充実した一日でした。
We bought a lot of stuffs at Itoyokado.
Mainly Japanese snacks.
