父親と谷川岳まで登山に行って来た。
谷川岳は群馬・新潟の県境にある標高約1970メートルの山。
朝4時起床、5時に出発する。
朝早かったので道路も空いており、
2時間半で到着。
I went climbing with my dad to Tanigawa-dake,
which stands at the border of
Gunma and Niigata prefecture.
We woke up at 4am and left the house at 5.
Since it was before sun rise,
the traffic was smooth and it only took 2.5 hours.
朝はものすごく晴れていたのに、
谷川岳付近はガスが立ち込めていた。
Although the sky was clear along our way,
the mountain area was covered with thick mist.
8時頃から登り始める。
今日は連休最終日ということもあり、
物凄い数の紅葉を観に来た登山客で、
山が渋滞していた。
まさか、山の中で行列が出来るとは。
ここはディスニーランドのビッグサンダーマウンテンか？！
We started walking from around 8.
Since today was the last day of the three-day holiday,
there was so many people who came to see the
autumn leaves, from time to time,
we had to queue to climb...
It was like Disney Land in the mountain.
途中いくつかの鎖場を越えて、
10時40分に山頂のトマの耳（標高1963m）に到着。
周りは真っ白で見事に何も見えない。
昼食をさくっと食べた後、
10分程で行ける、オキの耳（1977m）まで行く。
この、トマとオキの二峰が遠くから見ると耳のようになっている。
After few hours of climb,
we reached Tomano-mimi (1963m), one of the peaks, at 10:40.
But due to the heavy fog,
we couldn't enjoy any view.
After a quick lunch,
we decided to walk to Okino-mimi(1977), an adjacent peak.
Looking at Tomano-mimi and Okino-mimi from distance,
they look like ears ("mimi" means ear in Japanese).
霧が晴れないかなと祈っていると、
一瞬晴れた。すごい景色に感動。
We waited for a while for fog to disappear,
and it momentarily did!
The view of the valley was beautiful.
下山途中、
次第に霧が晴れて、一転素晴らしい天気になった。
これだから山は素晴らしい。
As we climbed down,
the fog started to disappear,
and gradually, the sky opened up.
This is what I love about mountains, unpredictability.
帰り際に、湯テルメ谷川に立ち寄る。
帰りの渋滞は凄かった。
Along our way,
we stopped by at an onsen (hotsprings).
The traffic jam on our way back was a horrifying experience.
