The weather's been nice these
three or so days. I can live comfortably with short sleeve and a
long trousers. I first
hated the cool
summer but with the whether this nice and all, I'm finding it not bad
at all.
Worked from
12:30 to 9:30. I've been working at Subway for about three weeks
now and fairly got used to this job.
Recently, I
even have enough peace of mind to observe some customers. A man
ordering exactly the same sandwich,
a customer who tries
out new menus everytime, a lady who eat with meat only and no vegetable
(yeah, very healthy),
a man who's so
fussy on what sauce he's having ... just to name some, there's some
many diffrent sorts people comes
to our shop.
We have 9 diffrent types of sauces and today, there was a girl who
wanted to have all of them mixed in
single
sandwich. 'We can't be responsible for your stomach ache madam'
we persuaded; she gave up by 'only' having
four sauces
mixed this time but I think anyone can imagine what happens if you mix
the barbecue sauce and the
honey
mustard...
It is
surprising to know that Subway has more stores than Mcdonald's in the
world, but it is even more surprising that
still, not many
people know how to order a sandwich after stepping into the shop.
Thus, today I would like to teach
you the most
'efficient' way of ordering a sandwich, step by step.
How to Order a Delicous Sandwich
at Subway
Personally, I think Subway is one
of the most 'inquisitive' store in the world. Come to think of
it, we ask on average
about 5
questions to make single sandwich. No wonder there's so many
people who 'rolls their eye' when we're just
doing our
jobs. But, people have their own 'likes' and 'dislikes', so if we
don't question, the sandwich could become
'uneatable' for that
particular person. This is the dillema that we the employees at
Subway live in. So, I've listed
the most
efficient steps to order a sandwich at subway, which by following this,
I can gurantee that you can cut
the number of
questions we'd have to ask by 50%!
1.
Choose the 'meal' i.e. what you want in it e.g. Teriyaki, Tuna, Roast
Chiken etc
This is the
first information we want to know, as we have to warm the meat in the
microwave (if you're having any)
which, if we
could do it in the very beginning, will speed up the whole
process! So many people tend to forget to
tell us this
crucial information after telling us all the rest of the things ('I
want lettuce, cucumeber, No Onions,
couples of
pickels, DON'T put tomatoes and cut in in half please! and coke and a
cookie etcetc')
2. Choose the
size of the bread - we have 6 inch or 12 inch (a foot)
3. Choose the
type of bread. There's total of 6, they are Italian,
Hearty Italian, Parmesan and Oregano,
Italian Herb and Cheese, Honey Oat, Wholemeal. Also there's one
Deli style bread (small round one).
If you tell us
the above three things all at once in the very beginning, you can cut
the number of question that
we'd have to
ask by whole three!
4. Tell
us wheter you want some cheese inside, and pick the vegetables you
want. However, for this part, it is
better to answer our questions as we know the most
efficient way to ask rather than for you to say your
choice all at once. Because, it is
highly likely that we won't be able to remember all the things you said
and
end up asking you over and over again.
Remember, Subway employees are not like Japanese Sushi Chefs! who
can memorize orders from tens of people.
5.
Choose the Sauce
That all! Some
people think that it'll cost more by including more salad or cheese
(normal amout of cheese is
free, only the
extras are charged), but they are all included in the listed
price! That means, as all the prices are
set based on the
full materials (meat as well as salad), you're losing money when you
don't put even one
ingredient inside
your sandwich! You're falling into the pitfall of Subway if you
stick too much to your
'prefereces', just
put everything, forget about the taste! get money worth it! Well,
maybe that's too extreme,
but truly, you're more
than welcome to be 'greedy' as to say 'put more lettuce in' or
'give me handfu of
such and such'.
Subway could be a
total rip-off, but it's all up to you! I will strongly
recommend you to come to our shop
sometimes and try our
sandwich. How about for tomorrow lunch?
