昨日買ってきたジュール・ヴェルヌの「地底探検」を一気に読んだ。
過去の冒険家が残したヒントを手掛かりに、アイスランドの死火山から地球の中心へ
徒歩で行ってしまおうというロマン溢れる物語。
マグマの問題、圧力の問題、水の問題
一つ一つ、科学的な説明で読者を釘付けにする。
食料は持つの？！
帰りはどうするの！？
そんな疑問を抱きながら読み進んだ。
最後のほうはちょっと無理があって、面白おかしかったけど、
でも「ありきたり」っていう言葉はこの本に対しては使えない。
何せ140年前に出版された本である、アイデアはオリジナルの他なにものでもない。
一つ面白いことに気付いた。
本の中では、地球の半径を4750マイル（7600km)と言っているが、
実際は3965マイル（6380ｋｍ）。
科学の進歩を感じさせてくれた一節である。
地底人はいるのか？！！

Finished reading "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" by Jules Verne.
Let's go to the centre of the earth from the extinct volcano in Iceland on foot - is what the story is about.
It sounds ludicrous, however, Jules Verne has written it so good
that I was persuaded with his scientific arguments and was nailed to the book.
It's a totall romance.
He deals with all sorts of problems from the heat of the earth, the pressure, food and water provisions and so on.
The last bit souded slightly impractical if not impossible, however this book is the last to be criticized as "ordinary"
as it was published 140 years ago! It's pure orinal not like Hollywood.
I noticed a very interesting thing.
In the book it says the radius of the earth is 4750 miles but in reality it's only 3965 mile.
It was a line that made me realize the advancement of human intelligence.
Does an underground world exist?
It's all in the book!
