月末は月のなかで一番忙しい日だと誰も承知してると思ってたのだけど．．．
何故かこの日に運動会。
綱引き、二人三脚、長靴投げやらと約６種目で、ファイナンスやらITやらの部署対抗で競い会う仕組みになっていた。
ファイナンスはどの種目もさっぱりしない成績だったが、得に長靴投げと言ったら．．．
一番打者のD.F.は投げるときに線からはみ出したので失格、
Fの長靴は観客に猛速球で当たるわ、最後のDの長靴は横にそれすぎてこれまた失格。パセティックだよ！
でも腹がまじで痛くなるほど笑わせてもらった。
僕はエッグ・アンド・スプーン・レース出て、なんとも微妙な４位か５位だった。
「今日はいそがしいから、長靴投げたらすぐ戻ってくるよ」とか言っていたDを含め、
ジェネラル・アカウンティングのチームは全員最後まで残ってしまった。
今日は残業だよ。
Everybody knows that the month end is one of the busiest time of the month.
Well, I thought they knew... we had a 'summer fete' today.
Tug of war, three leg racing, egg and spoon racing, wheelbarrow racing eteetc
With regard to the wellington boot throwing competition (welly wanging as they called it), the finance team was just pathetic.
D.F stepped over the line and was disqualifed, F's boot hit one of the audiences 100miles an hour and
D's welly went out of the range and was also disqualified. But they gave me a big laugh that my stomach was
aching from too much laughing.
I was forced to participate in the egg and spoon racing, which our finance team did extremely mediocre; being 4th or 5th place out of 10 or so.
'Oh it's a very busy day so I'll just do my welly wanging and come back' D was saying, but hey hey hey,
all of the General Accounting team stayed till the end...
And so we had to work overtime.
