As I have
become tired of Tokyo, I decided to go see the autumn leaves today and breath
in a fresh air.
I was going
to go to Nikkou, but as the weather wasn’t looking good, I decided to go to Mt.
Takao instead.
It was
already 2pm when I left the house, as I was helping out my grandfather fixing
our house’s veranda.
I got on to
Tama-monorail; I haven’t done it in four years.
From
Tachikawa, I was suppose to take the JR Chuo Line to Takao,
but in the
train, I realized that I’m on the Oume-line to Oume, for some reason.
And that’s
how I ended up standing on a platform of Haijima Station.
When I was
in highschool, I used to use this station everyday, for three years.
6 years
have passed since then.
But this
place has changed.
The old
access bridge was being demolished and instead they’ve built a new ticket
barrier with a big shop compound.
The
taiyaki-shop and eat-standing Soba shop have also gone.
I guess
that’s how our memories are formed.
After a
long long wait at Haijima, I got on the Hachikou-line to Hachiouji.
From
Hachiouji I took the JR line to Takao.
And from
Takao, I took the Keio-line to Mt. Takao exit.
I should
have taken the Keio-line from the start... damn.
By the time
I arrived, it was already getting dark.
I wanted to
climb on foot, but
I didn’t
want my name to be on the front cover of the tomorrow’s morning newspaper for
getting lost in the mere 500m mountain,
I
took the lift to the summit (a lift as in, a kind of ski-lift).
At this time, there was hardly anyone going up.
Well, the outcome
of the day was that, the leaves were still green.
From the
lift’s terminal, I walked for about 30 minutes to the summit.
At the
summit, I found a handkerchief, which someone must have forgotten, and a
pencil.
It was such
a great feeling of achievement.
Almost all
my photos were blurred, as it was really dark.
I guess this
photo of two monkeys is the best photo of the day.
It says
“please don’t feed the monkeys”.
What a
wonderful day.
