横山先生がこの前メールで次の日曜日にロンドンJCF教会に来るというので、
ベージングストークに引越してから初めて、ロンドンに行くことにした。
礼拝は午後２時半からだったので、午前テート美術館に行った。
ターナーのコレクションが素晴らしかった。
「あれは未完成だね」
「そう思うか、額縁がないからって未完成だとは限らないと思うよ。僕は完成品だと思うね」
おじいちゃんと息子らしき人がある部屋で議論していた。
テートを出て、近くの電話ボックスから家に電話を入れた。
日本はじめじめと暑い日が続いているらしい。
「今日はセーターを着てるよ」と伝えたら驚いていた。
ロンドンに来たことに少し心配していたが、今日は地下鉄にもバスにも乗らないから大丈夫だろう。
事実、地下鉄の利用客数が今格段と減っているらしい。
礼拝は素晴らしかった。たまにはやはり日本語の説教を聴くのもいいな。
礼拝後、皆で中華街で晩飯を食べた。

Mr. Yokoyama e-mailed me the other day saying that he'll be coming over to London.
So for the first time since I came to Basingstoke, I decided to go to London today.
Since the church service was from two thirty, I had time to visit the Tate gallery in the morning.
They had a wonderful collection of Turner's paintings, covering the paintings from his youth till his later years'.
'That one is certainly unfinished'
'But not having a frame doesn't mean it's unfinished, looks finished to me'
In one of the rooms, an old man was debating with his son weather those drawings were finished or unfinished.
Called my parents in the phone booth nearby Tate.
They seemed to be doing fine and 'enjoying' the super damp summer weather in Japan.
They were a bit worried for me coming to London with all the terrorism rackets going on.
In fact I saw a lot of police officers with machine guns near the parliament.
The service was very nice; it's really a good thing to listen to a Japanese sermon once in a while.
Went to the China Town afterwards.
Takashi is going back to Japan very soon; I wish you the very best.
