JAPANESE
Got into Louvre at ten thirty in the morning.
As I entered, got a map and decided to start from the 2nd floor in the
Richelieu wing.
Starting from room 1(14th century French paintings), I walked my way up
the centries of paintings.
It was a humongous collection, room after room, paintings of artists I
know and I did not know.
Dissapointingly, the 18th and 19th centry French paintings section was
closed today;
Sophie later told me that I missed the most wonderful paintings of
Fragonard's and Delacroix's etcetc.
The 'Grande Galerie' in the 1st floor was astonishing; it's a huge
corridor which end you cannot see, full of paintings on both sides.
Took me two hours just to see through this corridor.
I had a quick look at the Egyptian section and the medieval section as
well.
Also they had this thing called the 'Napoleon III Apartments' in the
first floor, it showed how grand his life was.
Had some sandwiches and snacks and I spent the whole day
until the galleries closed.
As I got out from the museum at seven, was tired so had a rest
in the Luxembourg park again.
The park was peaceful and calm, a couple was picknicking with
sandwiches and wine.
After reading a chapter of Hemingway, got out of the park and decided
to walk along the Seine.
Took a photo at St. Michel recalling a painting of Sisley I saw
yesterday in Orsay.
It was just about the time of sunset, the colours of the streets
and buildings were starting to turn red.
But the air was still hot and the sun beam strong; I walked to the
west.
I could see the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
I walked all the way up to Orsay and took the metro at half past nine
back to Marcel Sembat at Binou's.
Paris was a lovely city.
