予定通り飛行機は11時過ぎに到着。
ボーイング７４７はでかいだけあって、とても安定していた。
到着して、さて迎えに来てくれているはずの父親はいづこなり？
母親の携帯に電話を入れると、どうやら渋滞に巻き込まれているようだった。
40分ほど待つと、父親が走って出現した。
空港で昼飯に冷やしうどんを食べた。
うどんに、わさびとねぎだけ。
このシンプルさがイギリス料理にはなかった。
店員のサービスも良く、お金をレジで払う慣習もとても合理的だと思った。
水が無料なのもいい．．．
しかし、空港の駐車場には、異常な数の交通整理のおじさん達がいた。
一人いれば十分なのにと思った。
こういうところは日本は合理的でないな。
帰りの高速も渋滞していた。
日本の道路は平均速度がかなり低いと思う。
あとラウンドアバウトがなくて、信号だらけなことも、速度を遅くしている原因だろう。
結局成田から家まで4時間もかかってしまい、途中疲れで物凄い眠気に襲われた。
The plane arrived at Narita as scheduled.
Boeing 747 was very stable, for its big size.
Walking out of the arrival gate, I looked for my father, who was supposed to come and pick me up, but he wasn' t there....
I rang my mom on her mobile; she told me that he's getting stuck in a traffic jam.
After waiting for 40 minutes, he came running apologetically.
We had (cold) Udon for lunch at the airport.
This udon consisted only of Udon noodles, some wasabi and thinly cut Japanese leek ('negi').
I love this simplicity of Japanese food.
And the service level of the waitresses are excellent and the water is free of charge, thank you.
And I thought how customers pay the bill at the till counter is very rational and efficient.
However, I noticed unneccessarily large number of traffic officers at the airport car park;
there were 10 when there only needs to be 1.
I think Japanese are good with making the system (or the workflow) efficient and they are also good with
manufacuring tangible products. But I think they're awfully bad when it comes to human resource allocation.
There was a nasty traffic jam on our way back too, it took us four hours in total.
The average speed of cars in Tokyo is excruciatingly slow.
Perhaps roundabouts do help the traffic flow better.
東京は予想以上に暑く、湿気がすごい。
立っているだけで汗がでる。
これで、毎日ジョギングすれば軽く痩せられるなと思った。
Tokyo is hotter than I expected. And it's so humid that you'll sweat just when standing.
You can easily lose weight when you jog under this weather I'm telling you.
夜は、久しぶりに一家五人そろった （プラス猫3匹）
バーミンガムで買ってきた、アイラブ・バーミンガムのマグカップで紅茶を飲む。
Yusukeが、「毎朝これで飲んで、産業革命のエネルギーを得てください」と説得され、買ったこのカップだが、
こうみると、結構かわいくていいな。
明日も色々やることがあります。
やることがあるだけいいな。
All my family members were present in the evening (which rarely happen in our case).
I had tea with my I love Birmingham mug.
I bought it upon an advise from Yusuke who said,
'drink it from this every morning and invigorate yourself with the power of industrial revolution'.
Yeah, I think it's a good design.
Tomorrow will be another busy day.
Well, at least I have something to do.
