朝は見事に寝坊した。
相当疲れが溜まっていたらしい。
１２時過ぎに、久しぶりに自転車に乗り、東大和市役所まで住民票の写しをもらいに行く。
家の近所が懐かしい。
家から自転車で２分の所にある、中村商店は、子どもの頃皆何故か「パリ」と呼んでいた。
あだ名の由来は誰も知らない。今の子供達もそう呼んでいるのだろうか．．．
今日も猛暑だった。
東京は３５度を超えたらしい。
I overslept, I guess I was tired.
In the early afternoon, I went to the city council to get copies of residence registry, which will be my identification for the time being.
I enjoyed cycling around my neighbourhood.
There is a small shop 2 minutes away from my house.
It's official name is Nakamura Shouten (as written on its nameboard), but when I was little, everybody called it 'Paris'.
Nobody knows why... I wonder if this nickname is still being passed on.
It was another steamingly hot day.
It exceeded 35 C in Tokyo.
市役所の近くにあるコンビニで、会社に提出用の書類をカラー・コピーした。
懐かしのコンビニ．．．
コンビニは３００ｍ～５００ｍ間隔であるので競争が激しい。
Buyerの切り替えコストが低いため、
店員はサービスのレベルを上げないと、客をすぐ奪われてしまうのだろう。
ペットボトルに入ったお茶を買った。147円也。
147円、つまり約60ペンスだ。なんて安いんだ！
世界で最も物価が高い国の一つであるイギリスに４年間も住んでいると、
日本の食料品の価格はどれも安く感じられる。
I took photo copies in a convenience store near the city council.
Convenience stores are everywhere in Japan, perhaps at every 300-500 meters.
The shop keepers were so polite.
I guess, these convenience stores have to increase the service level to retain the customers.
I do think that's one of the reasons for Japan's good customer relationship, i.e. level of competition and buyers' switching costs.
I bought bottled green tea for 147 yen.
147 yen feels so cheap, it's only 60 pence...
Living in one of the most expensive countries in the world for four years,
made me feel that commodity prices in Japan are very cheap.

帰り際に、携帯電話を買いにコジマ電気に行った。
Toshibaの最新機種を買った。
On my way back home, I went to Kojima Denki (an electronics store).
I bought a new Toshiba's mobile phone.
Actually, 'bought' isn't the right word, as I got it for free...
４年間の間に日本の携帯は僕の理解範囲を超えるほど進歩してしまったようだ。
PCヴューアーというので、インターネットを普通に使えるし、
カメラも３００万画素を超え、２８mmの広角レンズにフラッシュ付。更に、露出補正までできてしまう。
更に驚くのが、無料でテレビが見れてしまうこと。
しかし、甲子園をわざわざ携帯の小さい画面でみることもないので、このテレビ機能は正直僕には必要ない。
随時ニュースが待ちうけ画面にフィードされる機能はいい発想だと思う。
僕の理解範囲を超えているサービスが、携帯の決済機能だ。
FelicaやらモバイルSuicaやらと言われても、さっぱり分からない．．．
During these four years, the Japanese mobile industry has advanced to somewhere beyond my understanding.
With my mobile phone, I can view TV for free.
But this function is rather unappealing to me,
as I see no point in watching the Koushien baseball match (which is an inter-highschool tournament taking place every year during this time of the year) with such a small screen.
But apart from that,
the camera is a 3.2 megapixel, with flash, 28mm wide lense, I can even adjust the exposure level and everything.
I can send the photo via email to my PC and vice versa.
I can use the internet with PC Viwer function, that is, using a normal PC-like screen.
And I can get a news feed for free on my screen saver.
The thing I don't understand is its payment facility.
Basically, in Japan, you can use mobile phones to get on a train (like the Oyster card in London), to pay for goods (like a debit card) and get on plane etcetc.
９時だが、まだだれも家にいない。
父と母は仕事で、ゾムは教会にいっており、兄もどこかに行っており、
一人で晩飯にマグロ丼を解凍して食べた。

It's nine o'clock on a Friday, but nobody's home yet.
My parents are still at work, Zome went to church,
and who knows where my elder brother Rei is...
I defrosted some maguro (Tuna) and put on top of the rice, which is called maguro-don.
Delicious.
