今日は建国記念日で休みだったので、
Kusunoki先生、Yan先生とアルピニストのI.Kojiと御岳山に登って来た。
朝9時、荻窪駅西口で待ち合わせる。
すると、I.Kojiが何を血迷ったのか、
御岳山ではなく、エベレストに登る格好で登場した。
まあ、いつものことである。
11時前に到着。
ケーブルカーが出ている滝本駅から登り始める。
Today was the National Foundation Day, a public holiday.
I went to climb Mt. Mitake, which is in the west of Tokyo,
with Pastor Kusunoki, Pastor Yan and I.Koji the alpinist.
We arranged to meet at nine at the west exit of Ogikubo station.
I.Koji arrived looking totally out of place -
I had to remind him that we're not climbing Mt. Everest today.
We arrived at around eleven.
We started walking up from Takimoto station, from where you can also take the cable car to the summit.

12時過ぎに山頂に到着。
今日は祝日であったにもかかわらず、
人数が少なく良かった。
We arrived at the summit at around twelve.
Despite it being a national holiday,
there was scarcely any people around, which was great!
昼飯を山頂から少し下った所にある「長尾平」という平野で食べる。
展望がとても素晴らしい場所で、
食べる頃になるとちょうど青空が顔を出してきた。
感謝！
We had lunch at Nagaodaira, which was a short walk down from the summit.
The view from here was spectacular.
And just about the time we sat down to eat,
the clouds cleared away and it got sunny, which was so thankful.
そして、これが人類初、御岳山を酸素ボンベなしで制覇したI.Kojiが山頂に登り着いた
歴史的瞬間を撮った写真である。
余りの疲労で、顔がラーメンマン化しているのが窺える。
And this is the very moment that I.Koji, the alpinist, have conquered Mt. Mitake without an oxygen tank.
His face has deformed after a strenuous climb.
ランチには、
Kusunoki先生がなんとガスバーナーを持って来ており、
カップラーメンを食べることが出来ました。
まさか、山でカップラーメンが食べられるとは思いませんでした。
おいしかったー。
And for lunch,
Pastor Kusunoki brought with her a gas burner and we were able to eat cup-ramen!
I never thought I can eat a hot noodle on top of a mountain.
It was great.
お腹がいっぱいになった所で、
ロックガーデンの方向へ歩き始める。
After lunch,
we started walking again, towards the "rock garden".
山頂から大分降ると、
「七代の滝」という、とても綺麗な滝に到着。
ここで、今日滅多に会わない他の登山客に写真をとってもらう。
After a long walk down,
we arrived at this beautiful waterfall called "Nanayo-no Taki (seven generation waterfalls)".
We rarely saw another climber today, except at this time,
who was kind enough to take a photo of us, thank you.
後ろに見える大きな岩が「天狗岩」。
岩の上に、天狗の像があった。
The big rock behind is called "tengu's rock" (tengu is a man with a long nose).
There was a tengu's statue on top of this rock.
一人たたずむYan先生．．．
この辺り一帯がロックガーデンで、
本当に美しい渓谷だった。
渓流には魚が泳いでいて、
Yan先生が見つけるのが上手でした。

This whole place is called the "Rock Garden".
It's a beautiful valley, with streams flowing through the rocks.

頂上から四五十分歩いた所にあったのがこの「綾広の滝」。
これもなかなか綺麗だった。
After walking for about 45 minutes from the summit,
we arrived at the "Ayahiro waterfalls".
It was beautiful.
滝を過ぎると、ゆったりとした山道を歩き、御岳山に戻って歩く。
この辺りから、雪が本格的に降り始めてきて、
辺りがとても静かで（Kusunoki先生のダジャレ以外は！）、
すごく幻想的だった。
そして、気が付くとあっという間に長尾平に戻って来ていた。
After this waterfall,
it was relatively a easy climb back to Mt.Mitake.
By this time, it started snowing!
It was so peaceful and silent (apart from Pastor Kusunoki's jokes, which she made every now and then).
And when we realised, we were back to Nagaodaira, where we lunched.
神様の作られた自然は美しいと
つくづく感じました。
本当に素晴らしい一日でした。
God created this nature so beautiful.
It was a wonderful day.
