I decided to go to the Cotswolds today.
Sam came to pick me up at the Oxford station at ten.
Had a wonderful breakfast with Sam's family; they just came back
from holiday in Spain and they were all nicely tanned.
We left the house, with Sam's driving, around 12.
Sam's house is actually in the outskirts of Cotswolds region and we
decided to drive around the various towns one after another.
We first visited Burford.
The atmosphere of this beautiful village was totally different from any
other
English towns that I have been.
The houses were very well preserved and shops were all indigenous,
selling antiques, teas and sandwiches, old books ete.
We had lunch and moved on to the next town.
Burton on the Water was about 20 minutes to the northwest of
Burford.
The town was built around a small canal.
We sat down for a break at a cafe and ordered cream teas.
The clouds were beginning to clear away, showing patches
of blue sky.
Some of the gardens were gourgeous; I loved the ivies growing
along the
house walls.
I read aftewards that most of the houses in Cotswolds are built during
the 18th - 19th centry.
Stow on the Wold was about 10 minutes to the north from Burton
on the Water.
There were a lot of antique shops in this town.
I went into one of them and was apalled to see a five hundred
pounds tea pot.
It is August.
Britain is not quite like summer yet, but I guess it doesn't matter
after all.
Because regardless of the weather, one can meet friends, one can travel,
even one can barbecue in the midst of the storm.
A man has no power to control the weather, so I'm going to accept
everything and
enjoy every second of it.
