Christmast day.
Went to church in the morning.
The church that Mitz used to go, Centro Evangelico, was only 5 minutes
away from Lydia's
apartment.
For the first time in my life, I sang (well, at least I tried to...)
hymns in Italian.
There were quite a few songs I knew, so I was kind of humming in the
same tempo.
I could not understand a word in the sermon, but Mitz translated for me
afterwards.
After the service, we had a big lunch with the Matino's family in
Lydia's flat.
The Italian 'christmas lunch' had no roast turkey, no roast potatoes but
it was pasta with white wine, slices of meat with red, and
panettone for dessert, which is kind of a cake containing dry fruits;
they eat this during the Christmas season.
I ate far too much again, but it was so nice.
After this big lunch, Mitsu had to work, so I decided to go to
the town to breathe in some fresh air.
The city centre of Perugia is actually on top of a high hill, so
you have to go up several escalators which is quite exciting.
None of the shops were open, except the small cafes, but there were
quite a few people walking down the main street.
People enjoying window shopping, people coming out from the
evening missa.
I'm thankful that I was able to spend Christmas in Italy this year.
Merry Christmas.
