再び、日本人の食事パーティーを行った。
今回僕はコロッケを作った。
料理の腕はコロッケを作らせれば分かるというほど、非常に奥が深い一品ではあるが、
僕は４年間の留学生活で鍛え上げた、勘と感性を生かして、見事においしいコロッケを揚げることに成功した。
問題児のYusukeは、大阪出身ということをアピールするために、お好み焼きを作った。
味はなかなかうまかったが、賞味期限を１年以上超えた、粉を普通に使うところが、
大阪のパワフルさと漫才魂を象徴していたように思えた。
Izumiさんは、茶碗蒸しと炊き込みごはんという、非常に難易度の高い料理に挑んだ。
特に茶碗蒸しのできは、８５％と高得点を取得した。
あれで、中に唐辛子が隠し味で入っていたら、１００点だっただろう。
今回初参加のYukariさんは、「日本食パーティ」という既成概念を覆すような、
とてもラディカルなメキシコ料理を作った。
さすがイギリス人の旦那さんをもっただけある。うまかったです。
イギリスで１０年近く育っていながら、非常に日本人の上品さをもっているHarukaさんは、
その上品さのゆえ、鳥のから揚げとほうれん草のなんとかかんとかという、非常に難しい料理を作った。
ほうれん草の料理は、非常に繊細で、日本的な味だった。
最後に、Harukaさんのおちゃめで、少しませている妹のYurikaさんは、
今回もデザートを作ってくれた。マロン・ケーキというのを作ってくれ、
「今回」は大成功だった。驚くほど、意外に旨かった。
Once again we undertook a Japanese cooking party, this time with additional members, Yusuke and Yukari.
Everyone was responsible for cooking at least one dish.
I cooked Korokke, which is a very sophisticated Japanese dish which requires tremendous cooking technique.
It contains mushed potatoes, minced pork and onion, fried all together.
Yusuke cooked 'okonomiyaki', which is a natural choice for him, as it's a typical Osaka cousine (and he happens to be from Osaka).
I was a bit worried when he confessed that the powder Yusuke used for his okonomiyaki was out of expiry date by more than a year.
I thought his decision was a reflection of Osaka people's audacity and comical personality.
Izumi cooked 'takikomigohan' and 'chawan-mushi'. (just google them to find out what they are).
Personally, I really liked the chawan-mushi, it scored 85%.
Had it contained some chilli peppers, than it would have scored 100%.
Haruka, who still possesses a good attributes of Japanese woman despite living in the UK for 10 years,
cooked some spinach based dish and fried chicken.
The spinach dish was a highly sophisticated one, and it reminded me of the beautiful Japanese culture.
Yukari cooked some Mexican dish, notwithstanding the name given to this party,
i.e. 'Japanese cooking party'.
And Haruka's sister Yurika, who is cute in her looks but rather precocious, cooked the dessert, Maron Cake.
The cake was a success 'this time'. It was surprisingly delicious.
これが、一世を風靡した、コロッケです。
