家を出た途端に雨が降り出した。
部屋に戻るのも面倒なのでそのまま駅へ向かう。
イギリスでは傘などささないのだ。
日本で、そんな言い訳は通用しなかった。
日本の雨粒は、イギリスのそれよりも、大粒で傘がなくてはずぶ濡れになってしまうということを今日体験して知った。
天候が不安定な時期だ。
今度から傘は常備しよう。
As soon as I
left my room, it started to rain.
Being too lazy
to go back and get an umbrella, I went straight to the station, telling
myself,
that in Britain, nobody (or not many) uses umbrellas.
But I must have forgotten
that I was no longer in the UK.
The rain drops
in Japan were rather fatter than that of the UK.
By the time I
reached the station, I was wet indeed.
The weather is
unstable during this season – I must try to carry an umbrella all the
time from
now.
会社に到着し、パソコンを起動すると、Tさんからメー
ルが来ていた。
４階の席が今週一週間つかえるとのことだ。
Tさ
んのおかげで、こんしゅうもどうにか同じ部内に座れる。
来週はどうなることやら。
ノーパソと、借りているPCのスクリーンやキーボードやら書類一式を移動する。
これだけでも大変な引越し作業だ。いったい、１０月に会社が引っ越すまで、何度移動しなくてはいけないのだろうか。
As soon as I
arrived at the company and opened my email account, I noticed that
T-san has
sent me an email telling me that there’s a seat available on the fourth
floor.
Thanks to T-san,
looks like I can sit with my group this week, but who knows what will
happen
(or where I will end up sitting) next week.
I had to bring
all of my stuff, including my laptop, PC screen, key board and all the
papers
upto the fourth floor,
which was quite a big task. I wonder how
many more times I have to do
this before the company moves its office in October.
今日も暇だった。昨日買ったデューデリジェンスの本を１５０ページ読む。
今日のハイライトは、昼に食べたマグロ丼だ。
味噌汁とお漬物までついてい る。
I still haven’t
been assigned to a project yet. I was
reading a book I bought yesterday on due diligence all day.
My highlight for
today was my lunch – I had Maguro-don (big portion of rice with raw
tuna
topping).
It came with miso-soup and
some vegetables too!
夜は豚肉とブロッコリーのチャーハンを作った。
作っていて僕は思った。
一体どうしてチャーハンにブロッコリーが入っているのだろうと。
これでは、留学時代の料理と何の進歩がないではないか！
日本へ帰れば、ブロッコリーの入った陳腐なパスタやらチャーハンともオサラバだと思っていたが、
どうやら僕は大きな誤算をしていたようだ。
その誤算とはつまり、良い料理とは、国や地域に因るものではないということだ。
良い料理とは、シェフの腕に因る。
つまりシェフが変わらなければ、料理も変わらないということだ！
Speaking about
food, I cooked egg fried rice in the evening with pork and broccoli.
Whilst I was
cooking, I thought,
“why oh why is
there broccoli in my egg fried rice?”
I must admit
that I see no progress in my cooking skill since I was in the UK.
Actually, I
thought, when I go back to Japan, I can say goodbye to my insipid
broccoli
pastas and egg fried rice and stir fried and etc.
But I seemed to
have been making a wrong judgment on cooking.
I realized today
that a good dish does not depend on your country of residence,but
actually
depends on the skills of a chef.
Namely, if the
chef doesn’t change, there can be no change in the output.
まあいい。
料理は、味でもなければ愛情でもない。
料理は栄養だ！
ブロッコリー万歳だ！
After all,
cooking is not about taste,
it’s not even
about love.
But rather,
cooking is about nutrition.
It’s all about broccoli!
