Mayuzumi

From today until Sunday, our church will be camping in Karuizawa.

This will be our 50th anniversary camp.

Left the church at ten in the morning with Mayuzumi-san's van.

We arrived a little early, as Mayuzumi-san planned, so we picnicked

at the observatory at the top of a small mountain.

We met Miura-san's family along the way, so it was a large company.

I loved the view from here.

Apparently, this was a boundary between the Gunma and Nagano prefectures.

I.Koji eating his big lunch that he bought at a service area.

This lunch, called "Kama-meshi" is suppose to be quite famous,

not only because of its taste, but it claims that it's the oldest packed lunch in Japan,

which of course, nobody believes.

It was my first visit to Megumi Chalet Karuizawa.

It's basically a Christian camping ground,

with sleeping facilities, chapels and cafeteria.

We opened the reception from three,

and had dinner from six.

The opening service started from eight.

Our church invited a pastor from Fukuoka.

I've actually been watching his church services through the internet,

and have heard his sermons many times.

So I was very happy to see him in person.

From nine,

we held discussions in small groups.

The small group is one of the main events in this camp.

We hope to implement this small group in the near future in our church.

But, as I've felt this evening,

it's difficult to preside over a group that is comprised of people of all ages.

There are still many hurdles to overcome.

But we'll get there.

From eleven, the group leader and subleaders held a meeting.

And I had to count and balance the money.

I must admit, that I'm not good at balancing the money,

but it balanced at last, at two thirty in the morning.

It was surely a good day.
